The traveler's advice is to pack everything, then take it all out of the suitcase and eliminate 1/3. I am following this advice for the first time, and we'll see how it goes. I don't need 3 bathing suits, right? But here they are. Even a 2-piece, which I definately won't wear. Out it goes! Mac says, "I've seen it all" Ha! Not a chance...
This is his first break from work in 6 months. The market has tanked, the banks are failing, and the guy needs a vacation quite badly. Hopefully nothing critical will happen like our last vacation in September when the market crashed for the first time on the day we left for Truro. He spent the entire week consoling clients and glued to Bloomberg... so much for a quiet getaway. We are taking the laptop and have been told that there is internet access somewhere in the town of Esperenza. I visualize a Starbucks with comfy sofas and hipsters sipping lattes, but I have a feeling it will be more like a tin shack with one internet hook-up for the entire island. I am packing the Macbook in it's hot pink foam sleeve for it's first journey. I know it won't let us down. Also coming are: 2 cell phones with chargers (one with internet just in case the laptop doesn't work there), Itouch with charger, dock with speakers for Itouch, camera with plug in charger, back up ipod shuffle with charger, and of course mini hair dryer, which might get internet connection. This equipment needs it's own suitcase. I wish we didn't need all this stuff but it's part of our lives now, like it or not.
